How to Make a Zip file and email it

Many times it is much easier to combine many files into one convenient file and to send it as an attachment, or to create a zip file for back-up purposes. Back in the old days compressing more files into one had the advantage of saving space due to the compression that was making the overall size of those files smaller but nowadays storage space is easy to come by. Still it is a great way to send an attachment.

A zip file can be a compressed file or folder that contains multiple files

Compressed files are called zip files because usually they are compressed using a program called WinZip. It is one of the most used compression software and you will need to download it and to install it in order to use because it does not come as an integrated part of Windows. And this is the only down side to it. Any file that you will create with WinZip, like an attachment, will need to be “opened” decompressed with WinZIp thus the person that will receive your attachment will have to have this program installed and the know how in order to extract the files.
